Wilson Water Group is an employee-owned consulting firm that specializes in water resources planning, basin-wide modeling, and water rights engineering. Our staff is a small team of skilled and outgoing professionals with a passion for water. Our office is located in Lakewood, Colorado and we focus on Colorado-based clients and projects. WWG works for high-profile clients on their critical water problems in every Colorado river basin, including technical support on Colorado River Compact issues, protecting and developing Tribal water rights, modeling for the Colorado Water Plan, and water rights engineering for a major brewery. At WWG, we dive into the technical details while keeping an eye on the big-picture for our clients. We are looking for candidates that are excited to lead projects, train and mentor staff, and form and maintain client relationships. This position includes the potential for company ownership.

Education: BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or water resources related discipline

Experience: 7 to 15 years with water rights and water resources engineering

Requirements:

• Strong technical skills and experience with Colorado water resources and water rights
• Critical thinking skills to identify and solve complex water problems
• Project management skills, including developing technical approach, delegating tasks to staff, tracking progress, and performing quality assurance on the final product
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with WWG staff, client representatives, and attorneys
• Ability to foster professional relationships with clients
• Professional registration (PE or PH) or ability to obtain in the near future

Position Responsibilities: Senior Water Resources Engineer/Project Manager will collaborate with WWG staff on existing projects and clients and assist with bringing in new work. As with all senior level positions at WWG, this position will be a mix of technical work and project management. This position will be responsible for the technical aspects of projects, budgets, and client relationships. WWG provides consulting services in the following domains and is looking for candidates with relevant experience:

• Water allocation modeling:
  • Development and use of water allocation models. WWG routinely uses StateMod, RiverWare, and Excel-based spreadsheet models.
  • Work closely with clients to identify and develop model scenarios to explore opportunities and risks.
  • Analyze model results and present findings to a range of audiences, from the general public to other technical experts.
• Water rights engineering:
  • Engineering support for water rights diligence and water right applications.
  • Engineering support for water court opposition, including analyzing proposed decrees, reviewing engineering reports and draft accounting, providing expert opinion disclosures, and supporting litigation.
  • Augmentation plan development.
  • Develop accounting forms so that clients can easily track their daily water use in a format acceptable to DWR.
• Agricultural water consumptive use analysis:
  • Consumptive use analysis using a variety of platforms and methodologies.
  • On-farm water budget analysis and return flow estimates.
  • Understanding of various remote sensing techniques.
• Interstate litigation support:
  • Provide technical support for interstate compact issues.

Compensation: WWG offers a competitive compensation package that includes health/dental/vision insurance, fully vested 401K with matching employer contributions and profit-sharing, discretionary bonuses, and paid vacation/sick/holiday time. Salary: $90,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on years of experience and education
